How Do I Send Two Photographers to the Same Shoot?

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Tonomo can automatically send two photographers to longer shoots, so your team spends less time on site. You set a shoot length in hours, and any shoot longer than that gets two photographers. Because the pair splits the work, you can also reduce the scheduled time by a percentage. Every pair includes at least one Senior Photographer. You can also require two photographers for specific packages.

At a glance

  • Go to Configure Booking > Scheduling, General tab, Send 2 photographers, and enter a threshold in hours (for example 5).

  • Duration Reduction for 2 photographers shortens the booked time by a percentage.

  • Shoot length = the total scheduling time of everything in the order, not including buffers.

  • Every pair has at least one Senior Photographer. Two juniors are never paired.

  • Both must be available and cover the service area. Between them, they must cover every service booked.

  • A package can always send two photographers, overriding the threshold.

  • By default, the customer pays a travel fee for each photographer.

How do I turn it on for all bookings?

Admins can set this up:

  1. Go to Configure Booking > Scheduling and open the General tab.

  2. Under Send 2 photographers, enter the threshold in hours, for example 5.

  3. Under Duration Reduction for 2 photographers, enter the percentage to cut from the scheduled time.

  4. Click Save changes.

Example: with the threshold at 5 hours, a 3-hour or 5-hour shoot gets one photographer, and a 5½-hour or 6-hour shoot gets two. The shoot has to be longer than the threshold, not equal to it..

How is the length of a shoot worked out?

It's the total of the scheduling time you set on each service or package in the order. If an agent books three services that are 1 hour each, it's a 3-hour shoot. The buffers Tonomo automatically adds before and after a shoot don't count.

Which two photographers get paired?

When a shoot is longer than your threshold, Tonomo looks for two photographers who:

  • are both available at that time

  • both cover the property's service area

  • between them have the skillsets for every service booked. The partner only needs the services the Senior Photographer can't do.

The pair always includes a Senior Photographer, plus one other photographer who can be Junior or Senior.

This means that even if two junior photographers are free, agents can't book that time. Tonomo only shows time slots where a Senior Photographer plus one other photographer match the booking together.

How do I mark someone as a Senior Photographer?

On the General tab of Configure Booking > Scheduling, switch on the Senior toggle in that photographer's row, then click Save changes. The column's tooltip reads: "If a booking requires 2 people, we'll send at least 1 senior photographer."

Can I require two photographers for one package only?

Yes. This is useful when a specific package always needs two people, but you don't want a general rule.

  1. Edit the package in Configure Booking > Packages.

  2. Turn on Send Two Photographers.

  3. Save.

Whenever that package is booked, Tonomo assigns two photographers (a Senior plus a Junior or Senior). It overrides the general threshold, and books the full shoot time with no duration reduction.

Will the customer pay two travel fees?

By default, yes. Tonomo charges a separate travel fee for each photographer on the order. To charge one fee per order instead, change How Travel Fees Are Applied to Per Order. See How Do I Set Up Travel Fees For My Bookings?

Frequently asked questions

Why can't agents book a long shoot at a time when I have photographers free? Most likely no Senior Photographer is free, or the free photographers don't both have the skillset or cover the area.

Does the reduction apply to package-level two-photographer shoots? No. Package-level two-photographer shoots always book the full time.
