How Do I Schedule Twilight Shoots At a Separate Time?

Last updated: September 30, 2026

Tonomo can split twilight services into their own appointment, so customers book the daytime part of a shoot and the twilight part at two different times during checkout. For example, a twilight shoot at 6:00 PM and the rest at 11:00 AM. Twilight hours can be a fixed time range, or calculated automatically from sunset at each property's location. You set this up in Configure Booking > General, then mark which services are twilight services.

At a glance

  • Step 1: set twilight hours in Configure Booking > General > Scheduling: either Twilight hours (fixed) or Automatic Sunset by Location.

  • Step 2: switch on Twilight Service on each twilight service.

  • Orders with twilight and non-twilight services get two appointments.

  • Don't split appointments lets the twilight shoot follow straight on from the daytime shoot.

  • Set a package's twilight time in its Twilight Scheduling field.

Step 1: How do I set twilight hours?

Go to Configure Booking > General and find the Scheduling section. Choose one of two options.

Fixed twilight hours

Under Twilight hours ("Set the twilight hours for twilight services"), set a Start and End time, then click Save. This is a fixed schedule: it doesn't follow the actual sunset, so twilight timing can drift. Update it as the seasons change.

Automatic sunset by location

Under Automatic Sunset by Location ("Automatically calculates sunset time based on the shoot location"), switch on Enable. Then, under Twilight offset, set how many minutes Before sunset and After sunset define your twilight window, and click Save. Twilight times then adjust automatically to each property's local sunset.

Your normal Daylight hours (Start of day and End of day) in the same section are when you take daytime appointments.

Step 2: How do I mark a service as a twilight service?

  1. Go to Configure Booking > Services.

  2. Click the three dots next to the service, then Edit.

  3. In the General box, switch on Twilight Service and click Save.

Step 3: How do I test it?

  1. Click Book a New Order, then refresh the page so the new settings load.

  2. Book an order with one Twilight Service and one service that isn't a twilight service.

  3. On the scheduling step, you should be asked for two appointments: one for the daytime services and one for the twilight services.

  4. Submit the order, then open it in Orders Management. You should see two appointments under Schedule on the right.

Can the daytime shoot lead straight into the twilight shoot?

Yes. In Configure Booking > General > Scheduling, switch on Don't split appointments and click Save. Customers can then only book twilight appointments immediately after a daytime appointment ends, so the photographer goes straight from one to the other. Customers who also book twilight can book the daytime part after your normal daytime hours when needed.

Example: if daytime hours end at 6:00 PM and twilight starts at 7:00 PM, a customer can book the daytime part at 6:30 PM so it leads directly into the 7:00 PM twilight shoot.

How long is the twilight part of a package?

In the package's Twilight Scheduling field, enter the on-site time for twilight only. If a package takes 3 hours in total and 2.5 hours are daytime, enter 0.5. See How Do I Create Packages And Custom Packages?

Frequently asked questions

Can Tonomo schedule twilight shoots at sunset automatically? Yes. Turn on Automatic Sunset by Location and set minutes before and after sunset.

Why am I only seeing one appointment? Check that at least one service is set as Twilight Service, and that the order has both a twilight and a non-twilight service. Refresh the booking page after changing settings.

Do twilight shoots need Integrated Booking? Twilight scheduling uses your daylight and twilight hours, which are part of the Integrated Booking setup. See How Does Integrated Booking Work in Tonomo?
